We're super proud to introduce our newest private label bourbon, Beaver Scout! In the grand tradition of Old Scout, we have sourced some killer bourbon barrels and created our own label. Like SAOS, but... well... with a lot more beaver.
We got our hands on this seven-year-old heritage Kentucky bourbon (from a distillery that starts with a B and ends with an Arton). It's right up our alley. Cask strength, unfiltered, straight from the barrel. This first selection comes in at 125.8 proof. Scoring some cask strength 7-year bourbon was dope. Getting our sweet beaver on the label was doper. Getting it in your hands for $85 is stupid-dope. But for ultimate dopeness, wait until you taste it!
In the glass, it's got the color of well-steeped earl grey tea. The nose punches right up with oily salted cashews, caramel, nougat, leather, and tobacco, like Snickers on steroids. It's a CLASSIC bourbon nose, very punchy and rich, portending wonderful things to come. The palate is thick and viscous and moves heavier into the oak and honey direction. Charred wood coated with thick sweet molasses. There's cream and vanilla, and just a little hint of banana. The finish is super balanced with those sweet salty Snicker bar notes coming back wrapped up in the oak. It's a super pleasant finish, showing zero burn for the hefty cask strength flavor, sweet and salty.
This is not a spicy bourbon, it's straight in that sweet candy bar zone with additional richness pulling in wood, old men's club leather, and salt.
Beaver Scout is an earnest young tike, pitching tents and helping old beavers across the street. His dream is to complete his scout training by capturing all the merit badges. To that end, each barrel of Beaver Scout will come with a special merit badge. The first is "Honey Hole Cartography." Get out your compass and start searching for those little nooks of dusty treasures to earn this merit badge! A truly lovely find here, we're tremendously excited about Beaver Scout. You'll definitely want to go with our recommended "one for the throat, one for the shelf." After all, you're gonna want the whole set!
