Our first live Russell's pick chosen live at Beast Masters Club has landed!! We got together with Jimmy Russell's granddaughter Joann Street this spring and tasted four tasty barrels that were reserved for us back at Wild Turkey. This selection was the clear crowd favorite.

Barrel 24-0247 was distilled in March 2015 and aged nine years in the second oldest of all Turkey rickhouses - Warehouse B, which was built around the turn of the century. It came out of the cask at 119.2 proof (bottled at 110). We chose this over three other casks from different warehouses in Tyrone and Camp Nelson, all in the 9-year range, as is typical for Russell's barrel picks.

The nose reminds me of "Take 5" candy bars. Milk chocolate, caramel, peanuts, and salty pretzels. It's punchy, sweet, and rich, with some lovely savory qualities as well. Some spices mix in towards the end like pink peppercorns, chiles, some bbq notes. But mostly this is a candy/cocoa nose that invites you to the sweets within.

The palate is nice and thick with that caramel and milk chocolate turning into rich oils on the tongue. Around the sides of the mouth emerge some lemons and floral notes. Then on the back of the mouth more of that glorious caramel and creamy milk chocolate.

Wow the finish is really the chef's kiss on this one. All that sweet candy mixes together with deep wood and the little salty spices. There's almost no spirit burn on this one and the warmth and flavor goes on for miles. What a B-B-B-Banger!

168 bottles total came out of this barrel, and as all one-of-a-kind Beast Masters picks, when it's gone it's gone and don't come crying to us 'cause you didn't pick up a spare!
