It’s here! Our first Elijah Craig private barrel of 2021! Always a favorite of ours, Heaven Hill's flagship brand is always delicious and just about impossible to beat in terms of value. This barrel is from the fourth floor of Rickhouse Y in their Bardstown facility. It's nine years, nine months old, 94 proof, and it's delicious!

Right out of the glass this is one of the spiciest Craig’s we’ve ever seen. Huge Mexican barbecue notes going on with poblanos, smoke, and charred wood. Salty dark chocolate, like a Mole sauce. A lot of really wonderful spices going on in the nose with wood and char mixing with Then mixing in is some caramel and honey. The palate is thick, very chewy and oily and rich nonetheless. Nice tongue-coating, easy palate with cream and caramel. The finish balances out the spiciness of the nose with the sweetness of the palate. It leaves you with a kind of Almond Joy-like sweet creamy nuttiness.
