Get ready for one of the best BMC barrels ever. The fourth installment in our Major Beaver series is a serious hum-dinger!
Though his dog-fighting days are long behind him, Colonel Lance Von Brine was one of the founding flyers of the legendary Flying Beavers. The call sign "Hot Pickle" was known far and wide as one of the spiciest pilots around. These days his full-sour demeaner is famous among military brass as he oversees thousands of airmen including the modern day Beaver Squadron.
Befitting his rank, Colonel Pickle is the highest proof barrel we've ever released. Breaking through the pack at 149.5 proof, this monster bourbon is just simply a once-in-a-lifetime occurence. And the fact that it's only 73 bottles makes it all the more special.
The crazy thing about this bourbon is that despite the proof being a Mutually-Assured-Destruction level nuclear deterrent, it is... gentle. Seriously, for real, the richness of it makes the whole experience the absolute opposite of throat-burning harshness. It's one of the most incredibly delicious things we've ever had. The angel's share took most of the this barrel. What it left is pitch black, syrupy, and rich beyond belief. (Listen us taste it live on the 'Pimp Hat, Hazmat' podcast episode).
"I'm just glad I have my pimp hat on!" exclaims Steve (Smoky Beast). "Charleston Chews!" he squeals in an epiphany-like state. "Yes, white frosting on chocolate cake!" echoes Ben (Ju Done Drank Ma Whiskey). Josh (Coopered Tot), inexplicably dressed in high heels and fishnets, begs "Take My Money Now!" The nose is pure icy sugar covered in chocolate. Everything else is there, the vanilla, the char, the spice, miles of oak forest. The palate just keeps changing through layers of depth. Candy, cocoa, deep bbq smoke, dripping caramel. It goes on and on to an extent that's impossible to describe.
The finish at nearly 150 proof is a thing of pure beauty. How this beast is even palatable is beyond belief, but it is that and much more. It's sure to be a legend. The last sip leaves you with the most epic vapors of deep, deep bourbon memories. Sure it's a massive high-proof bourbon, but it treats you with gentle grace. Just miles of sweet, woody, spicy, glorious warmth that starts in the chest and rises slowly up through the back of the throat with cola, birch, spice.
Ok you get the idea, like we said Colonel Pickle is a serious hum-dinger!
