You know the feeling when you've been chasing after something for so long it almost doesn't seem real when you actually get it? Sort of a combination of giddy and surreal? Yeah that's where we're at.

8-Year MGP Rye was the beginning of it all. The first barrel we ever bought. The shit that's now $3k+ on secondary. The now-legendary SmokyBeast Rye. I mean, we're getting sort of sentimental here. This was the beginning of it all. We brought in some folks who've now become some super-close friends. And some other friends.

We've scored some 7-year MGP ryes from Barrell Bourbon. And they're good. Damn good. We've scored some 16-year Canadian whiskeys from WhistlePig. They're also damn good. But look, rye age fast, and strong. And 8-year MGP is just sort of... different. So, yeah, we're pretty pumped on this one. Listen, it's not cheap, we're gonna come out with that right up front. But it's special. It's real special.

The nose on this is an incredible spice bomb. It slaps you in the face with spearmint, tarragon, cayenne, and rock salt. Big wood wrapping up tomato paste, garlic, and mesquite. There a bunch of candied citrus in there, like my favorite gourmet dessert, chocolate covered orange peels, some overripe stone fruits, peaches & prunes. Big dose of char, tobacco, rancio. This is it man, classic mega-rye content MGP nose, right on the money!

The palate is power, man, power! Those spicy notes sizzle right on the sides of the tongue, warm and incredibly flavorful. The citrus comes out in full power, orange zest, candied lemon slices. The spices, all that mint, italian seasoning, and bbq flavor is packed right in there. And the little pops of sweetness, char, leather. Damn this is one tasty little fucker.

The finish is straight rye goodness. It's smoky and spicy and soft of expands from the soft palate and crawls up your nose with smoke and spice and richness. It's a long-lasting richness that stays with you. Honestly we never want it to leave!
