It’s here, our first New Riff barrel!

We could only get one barrel for the whole year, so for those New Riff fans who’ve been hitting us up all year, this is your chance! While we normally look for mature, 7+ year well-aged beauties, once in a while a young hottie catches our eye and we are smitten. That was the case with this 4-year old high-rye bourbon. It’s hot and spicy and truly yummy. Starting with pecans and buttered nuts, it moves quickly into some peppercorns, candied lemons, little pops of orange zest, and spicy chiles. It’s darker than your average four year old, and a lot more flavorful!

For those not familiar, New Riff began with sourced bourbon under the OKI brand which was wildly successful. Then in 2014 they started distilling their own juice. Located in Newport, KY, they take the Kentucky bourbon process seriously and do things very traditionally. Their high-rye bourbon is 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. They use local ingredients and they age in proper 53 gallon barrels. The result is a proper product, rich tasty bourbon done the old fashioned way.
