Yay, it's Wild Turkey time!
We've been anxiously awaiting this barrel for many months and it's finally here! Sorry if you're doing any kind of "dry January" you'll just have to buy this now and then stare at it until February 1st (yeah right!).
Our hero, Tom Cruisecumber, is supersonic and ready to engage. Call sign “Mav-Pic” is DANGEROUS, but he can be our wingman any day! If you’ve lost that loving feeling, get ready for Top Gherkin!
The nose is CLASSIC turkey! If you could sort of roll up the essence of that Russell's magic into one dram, this is it. It's got that awesome root beer sassafras note first, Dr. Brown’s cream soda, then tree bark, then gooey candy bar nougat. Yum yum yum! Next is a lovely big underlayer of toasty oak, tree bark, and tobacco leaves. Finally some little pops of spicy bbq sauce, mint, and maybe a hint of lemon at the end. Such an inviting nose, you just CAN'T wait to get it down the gullet.
Mmmm, the palate is super lush. Oily and thick and sweet. Caramel, more wood and tobacco, some really delicious baking spices, and some spicy spices. It just coats the tongue with an awesome thick candy richness. We could drink this shit ALL DAY!
The finish is long, the sweetness fades and you're left with all that wonderful wood and spice. Just a classic turkey. This is why Wild Turkey has always been and will always be one of our first loves in bourbon. You absolutely can't go wrong.
And that’s not all, we’re bundling this with our awesome Barton single barrel Beaver Scout Bourbon. The nose on this one starts out with Snicker Bar goodness: chocolate, caramel, and nougat, with some peanuts and salt. You can tell it's a sweet treat with lots of cream and flavor. As it opens up you get deep oak, leather, tree bark, and some tobacco. Then finally the spices - peppercorns and lemongrass, pops of bbq sauce and chiles, some preserved lemon.
The palate is warm, thick, and oily, just how we like it. You can tell this is an undiluted, unfiltered beast. It wraps the tongue in more of those sweets, wood, and spices. Honey, lemon, some candy cream, mint, vanilla, it's all in there!
The finish is long starting in the chest with a slow trickle up the throat. A great balance between the full-flavored beastly glory of a high proof bourbon, with a dangerous level of smoothness.
Get both bottles for the unbeatable price of $149.99. Only 40 available!
