Nigel HOG-Nel’s guitar stylings are a tasty combination of licks, cementing his legacy as one of England’s loudest guitar players. Needless to say when the band announced its upcoming album, and a world tour to promote that album, we jumped on the chance to bottle up some of this now legendary sauce for your personal enjoyment.

In honor of our favorite hard rock trio, we are showcasing one of our favorite brands Heaven Hills’ Elijah Craig single barrel bourbon. The trio will include an 8, 9, and 10 year selection. And, true story, as unbelievable as it may seem, we got the final details on our first bottling, an 8-year barrel from Heaven Hill’s Deatsville rickhouses. And we noticed something so insanely perfect it was absolutely meant to be. The distillation date was November, 2011. 11/11!!!! So truly, this one goes to 11!

Elijah Craig is one of our favorite bourbons. Our two previous bottles “Midnight Rider” and “Crossed Keys” were incredibly popular. Getting a well-aged single cask bourbon for under $40 is not easy these days. And these bottles are just the perfect everyday drinkers! This barrel #6014173 opens up with an awesome oaky punch. The nose is super full-flavored even though these are all proofed to 94. It’s got chocolate covered cherries, old ‘men’s club’ leather, tree bark, a little root beer, kind of like those candy root beer barrels from summer camp. Then a hefty does of spice - anise, chipotle barbecue, orange zest, and some delicious little funk, like an overripe banana. The mouthfeel is oily and the flavors continue through the palate with all that woodiness, candy, and spice wrapping together for a punchy a satisfying finish.
