It's here! The second barrel in our... "if you will Rockumentary..." trilogy.

When we met the silver-jumpsuited blond locks of vocalist David St. Stache, our lives were cosmically in shambles. We were using bits and pieces of whatever eastern philosophy would drift through the Beast Masters transom. Though the great wisdom of David's stache, we're now aligned with our spiritual animal (any guesses what it is?).

But we digress. This is the second bottle in our trio of Heaven Hills' Elijah Craig Single Barrel Bourbon. It doesn't get much more "no-brainer" than this, folks. Hand-picked single cask 9-year bourbon for under $40. And to boot, it's friggin delicious. "None more black" if you will (ok we'll stop). This one, Barrel #5711782 if you're counting, was aged at the main campus in Bardstown, distilled in February 2nd, 2010. It was just a few weeks shy of 10 years old when it was bottled.

The nose is super piny (piney?) - anyway like a pine tree. Wintergreen and spearmint, icy Douglas Fir christmas trees, double mint gum, you get the idea. It's sugar-herbacity at its finest. The palate goes darker and deeper, changing from ferns to bitter cherries. There's some unique herbal stuff going on, something in the sage/thyme direction that mixes in with the mints and cherries. It's super unique and obviously a sister but not an identical twin to the first barrel!
