This is the second of our coveted Smoke Wagon 12 Year MGP private barrels, coming in at cask strength, non-chill-filtered 115.4 proof. This must have come from the same run and a similar warehouse location as the first barrel because they are absolutely peas in a pod. All of the lovely wood, vanilla, molasses, spice, tobacco, leather that were in Barrel #5887 are back. At a few points lower in proof this one is perhaps just a smidge less hot and more mellow. But if we’re being completely honest we’re not sure if we could tell them apart blind. Which is good because the first one was absolutely outstanding and we couldn’t think of anything better than more of the same.
