Super short barrel here, so sadly only one per person!
It's here! The second barrel in our year-winning "Bee's Knees Murder Hornets" series!
In 1957, a young wasp drowned in Crystal Lake. Ever since then, in a string of poorly-acted slasher classics, Jason Voor-Bees has returned to seek revenge on horny, scantily-clad, camp counselors. Why does a hornet wear a hockey mask? Could wasps even play hockey? Why do all horror movie villains have the bottom of their shirts ripped off? These are the types of existential questions that may never be answered. But rest assured, this is one fucking terrifying insect.
In case you missed out last time, your faithful Beast Masters have been searching for years for well-aged MGP rye. MGP (Midwest Grain Products) is a large factory in Indiana that makes a ton of the brands you see on the shelf under various names. While it might be romantic to think that a small distiller can craft a perfect rye whiskey through skill and attention to detail, in real life it just doesn't work that way. MGP makes the best rye on earth. The only problem is that it's so good people are selling it too young. There's tons of four and five year MGP rye on the market. But something happens at seven years that puts this stuff into a completely different category.
Barrel 766 comes in slightly lower proof than the first one, Fred-Bee Kruger, but somehow it's even more rich. While the first was very front-of-the-tongue spice and candy-sweet, this one rests more in the back of the palate with richness, vanilla, and deeper spices. The nose is char, bbq, nougat, chocolate-covered cherries, slow-roasted poblanos, and golden-brown marshmellows tickled by the fire. The palate goes deep oak, tobacco, mint, more smoked meats, it's bold and oily and perfectly in the pocket. The finish is long and warm and spicy, with a lingering richness that makes you want to flip over onto your stinger and backfloat in the glass.
110 proof is where this beast was destined to be. Adding water to it would be like clutching your jean-shorts and hiding behind the chainsaw shed when a perfectly good automobile is running just outside the front door. While every Friday the 13th you can count on another cookie-cutter horror movie on television, don't sleep on this one because once it's gone it's gone! Trust us you'll be a happy camper.
Cheers / The Beasts!
